Wilton Elephant Cake Pan

My Daughter *LOVES* elephants. I really wanted to make her an elephant cake without have to make a bunch of cake shapes that I would cut up and arrange to look like an elephant.

Well, maybe I should have done that.

The pan worked fine. I greased and floured it as directed. The cake cooked evenly and rose nicely. It came out of the pan easily. But, I could not decorate it to look like an elephant. When you spread frosting on it, it looses it's identity - duh! You have to be able to do those little frosting tip dot thingies. I can't do that.

Maybe one day she'll be able to decorate it herself!

My friend and I wanted to make elephant cakes for our birthday and this worked out great! I made two cakes and they both looked wonderful, the first one I didn't dust the pan with flour as well as I needed too, but it still looked fine, and the picture that comes with the pan is an excellent guide for icing the cake.

I purchased this product to make a cake for my son's 1st birthday. I've never made a cake like this before or ever decorated one, but this cake pan and the extensive instructions that came with it for decorating, made it easy! The cake came out wonderfully and I was surprised at how good the final result looked for a first-timer! Highly recommend!!!
