This pan would be OK in a fix, but if you plan on baking this size cake more than once, it's definitely worth spending a little bit more for a commercial grade pan. Commercial pans will have straight sides and corners, and will be made of much thicker alluminum. I bought this pan from a local store for a last minute cake, and it warped slightly in the oven while the cake was baking, resulting in an uneven cake. I have several other larger pans made by Magic Line, and the quality is much higher.

I now have several of the Wilton pans, but the sheet pans in various sizes are my favorite. They heat evenly, clean easily, keep their shape, luster and all around are built to withstand use and washing forever! I have tried several other brands of cake pans, but none hold up the way a wilton pan does. I tend to use Baker's joy pan spray, let the cake cool for 5 to 20 minutes out of the oven and (knock on wood) have yet to have a cake split, crack or dome when using these pans. I highly recommend them to the novice or professional baker. Once you buy one size, you'll come back for the next!!

We could not stop when we started listing all the things our old Wilton pan has baked for our family: countless batches of granola, cakes, cookies, Yorkshire pudding, casseroles, enchiladas, pasta, zucchini quiche... and the list goes on and on! I bought it years ago to make a wedding cake, the first one I ever made.
