Bakers will love the heavyweight cast aluminum construction for its gentle, balanced heating that produces deliciously moist centers and lightly browned crusts. Summary: Pan Creates Perfect Cake for Child's Party Or Carousel Fan 2008-10-01
Comment: This beautiful design is perfect for a child's party or for a carousel collector. With very little effort it looks like great effort is taken. Perfect for use during spring and Easter. Pan preparation is the most important step so take a few minutes and do it right. Spray liberally with a cooking spray that contains flour like Bakers Joy then turn the pan upside down on a paper towel to drain out the excess. The another vital step is, once the cake is finished baking, let it cool upright in the pan 10-15 minutes (no shorter or longer) before turning the cake out onto a plate. Lastly, if you want the detail to really pop, use a light cake (yellow, white, spice, etc.) with a very thick batter -- there are many bundt cake recipes on the internet. If you use a cake mix without altering it for the bundt pan, some detail will be lost - so check for cake mix adaptations on the internet. It looks spectacular with just a little powdered sugar dusted over the details. I use these style pans all the time (at least weekly) and have never had a cake stick -- but those two steps at the beginning and end of the process will help success.

Comment: I'm not a chef or anything, which is why, when I thought of making a carousel cake for my daughter's fifth birthday, I ordered this without really thinking it through.
You can't frost this cake, or you lose the carousel shapes. You might be able to glaze it if you were very careful. So basically with this mold you can make a carousel molded coffee cake, which is too immature for some grownups and not frosting-y enough for kids. It's also hard to see the carousel details on the finished cakes.
On a more positive note, the mold is sturdy and the cake doesn't stick to it at all.
