Digital timer with rotating chrome setting dial

Amazon.com Review

The great thing about this timer is not only that it’s easy to set, but that the directions for use are printed right on the back in case you forget how. While the timer uses digital technology and an LED display in hours, minutes, and seconds, its unique setting wheel removes some of digital technology’s frustration. Simply giving the polished metal wheel a turn or pushing either of the two buttons will activate the timer and readies it for setting. First, the hour space flashes; when turned clockwise, the wheel scrolls up through numbers one through nine, and easily let you backtrack to the number you want by turning the wheel counterclockwise. Next, the minutes place flashes and again the wheel turns quickly from one through 59; same with the seconds. Pushing the start button begins the countdown. Convenient features include pause, last-setting recall, and a pleasant yet firm beep. The oval base of the slanted timer measures 4 by 3-3/4 inches, while the durable plastic face measures 2-3/4 inches across. One D battery is required. KitchenAid covers the timer with a one-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

4.0 out of 5 stars little slow to use, May 6, 2004

I had this timer, but returned it after a short time.
It's nice that its digital and it's true that it has a solid, heavy base - but it takes too much time to set. the timer includes hours, minutes, and seconds. There is no "enter" button, so you have to wait for each time increment to pass before setting the next one. Since I usually only use minutes and am sometimes in a hurry when setting the timer, this timer was just not convenient to use.

If you read the other posts I have left for the Kitchen Aid Red series, you know I am a fan!! But this timer is really special- VERY unexpectedly (pleasantly so) heavy (1 D battery included), and the directions are fairly easy to follow. The only detractor is if you set it on top of your stove shelf, it is hard to see (the angle being a little off)!! If you leave it on your counter, it is a beautiful addition to your kitchen!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Kitchenaid can do better, April 14, 2006

My kitchen is all Kitchenaid so of course I had to have this, but as other commenters said - they can do better. It's a pain to set, it's angle is awkward and you have to be right in front of it to see the display and at the right angle (I'm short). And the beep isn't that loud. There's no clock in it either. The metal band around the outer rim corroded too so it doesn't look nice anymore.

I have a non-Kitchenaid timer that's got the clock, 2 timers, a button to set H/M/S seperately, and shows you how long it's been since you missed the beep that beeps for over a minute. I use this one more. (I think it's an older West Bend model)
