While I managed to turn out pretty good cakes in the past, I was a great frequenter of a french bakery which made the most exquisite cakes and pastries imaginable. On a lark (as I had some time on my hands) I decided to take a baking class to improve my skills. The teacher was the recently retired head baker of the french bakery. This review is from: KitchenAid 9-Inch Round Silicone Red Cake Pan (Kitchen) If you bake cheesecakes in a water bath with a springform pan, you need this cake pan too. I used to use double -even triple layers of aluminum foil around the springform pan to keep the water out - but not any more - this silicon pan fits snuggly over my springform pan and goes about 1/2 way up - perfect for the water bath - NO MORE LEAKS - perfect crust every time!! Other brands of silicon cake pans either don't fit at all, or don't come high enough up the sides. Funny, I haven't actually baked a cake in it yet...but it's great for my cheesecake! |
