Product Review
Product Description
This versatile deep professional cake pan is designed for baking a variety of layer cakes and wedding cakes. Straight sides and seamless construction (without corner welds) produce professional-looking cakes with square corners and sharp edges, essential for layering and decorating ease. The pan's uniform wall thickness results in an even rise and the elimination of hot or cold spots in cakes. The anodized aluminum pan won't discolour and provides excellent cake release and clean up. A ¼" rim around the entire pan makes it easy to lift and move the pan without disturbing the contents.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic little pan for gluten free (and other) cooking, October 11, 2008

It's very hard to get yeast breads to rise when you cook gluten free and when they do rise, they will fall in traditional bread pans. This little pan is extra high and supports the dough as it rises so the bread doesn't fall. It makes a very nice slice of bread that can be halved for a small sandwich. The anodized aluminum also makes for a very nicely browned loaf.

I have these pans in the 4X4, 6X6, and 8X8 sizes. They are all great for yeast breads, sweet breads and cakes. And baked goods don't stick to them easily. I love them.

This review is from: Fat Daddio's Anodized Aluminum Square Cake Pans (Kitchen)
I bought two of the 8x8x2 to make a square cake for my daughter's birthday. I sprayed with cooking spray that has flour in it so the cakes would not stick. They baked up evenly and level. I didn't have to trim any excess off the top to make it flat for stacking. The edges were cooked the same as the rest of the cake too. In some of the other square pans I have used (Wilton, Cuisinart non-stick) the edges can be a little crispy/burnt compared to the middle. The corners were also sharper than other pans I have used. Clean up was very easy. The cakes popped right out after cooling a few minutes. I hand washed one with warm water and soap and put the other in the dishwasher. I was testing the "dishwasher safe" claim since typically aluminium pans are not. It came out clean with a little discoloration, so I would recommend sticking with hand washing.

When it comes time to replace some of my rounds, and baking sheets, I will be purchasing this brand!

I bought this pan with the intention of making one large cake to cut into sections to make three or four (or six or eight) layer cakes. The pan is great; it heats evenly, has high enough sides to allow for a good rise, and fits in the oven (barely!). It's a very nice weight; not lightweight enough to dent or bend if accidentally dropped, but not heavy enough to be uncomfortable to handle. I have a few other FD pans, and they all seem to be good quality.
